September sees the official start of Spring in New Zealand and with it, some warmer and drier weather! It’s a great month to start getting out and about again and thankfully, there are a number of awesome events taking place right across the country that you can attend.

We’ve selected the 6 best events in September in New Zealand that you can consider no matter where you travels happen to take you in your GO Rentals car!

1. SCHOOL OF ROCK MUSICAL

The School of Rock movie starring Jack Black became an instant classic the world over, so much so, that the legendary Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber decided to turn it into a smash hit musical of Broadway.

This September, that same musical comes to the iconic Civic Theatre in Auckland where it will play for local audiences to enjoy. As fans of the film will know, it’s a great story for all ages and the songs and music will keep you tapping your toes throughout.

This one is sure to be just as popular as the movie so get your tickets quick to avoid the disappointment of missing out!

2. TRANS-TASMAN ICE HOCKEY CHALLENGE 2019

New Zealand is known the world over as a passionate sporting nation that does itself proud in a wide variety of sports across the global stage. One of those sports includes ice hockey and a great match-up takes place in Queenstown this September.

It’s, of course, a match-up against our beloved neighbours, Australia, in a 3 match series that’s organised as part of the epic Winter Games New Zealand. There’s no greater sporting rivalry you can witness on these shores than a Trans-Tasman encounter and with all the exhilaration of ice hockey to boot, it’s sure to be an entertaining contest.

3. STAN WALKER – SPRINGBOARD TOUR 2019

As an accomplished singer (and more recently, actor) Stan Walker is one of New Zealand’s best talents and he’s sharing it with everyone here this September with his Springboard Tour.

Stan Walker’s health battles have been well-documented and his recovery and continuing story has been truly inspiring. The Springboard tour will be hosted at 9 different locations across the country featuring his biggest hits and new songs too.

He’ll also be joined on tour by his regular backing band, The Levites, as well as up-and-coming artists Lepani, Niko Walters and Jordan Gavet.

4. FLEETWOOD MAC – NZ TOUR

September is a great month for concerts in New Zealand which is great given the music-loving nation that we are. One of the highlights of the month is the tour by Fleetwood Mac.

As most Kiwis know, Fleetwood Mac recently welcomed local legend Neil Finn into the band, making it an even hotter ticket to get your hands on. Having sold over 100 million records in 50 years of music, Fleetwood Mac are definitely one of the biggest bands to be visiting in the calendar year.

They’ll be playing all the classics from their long list of hits and throwing in a few newer songs too.

5. WORLD OF WEARABLE ARTS SHOW

The fashion scene has always been great in New Zealand, full of creativity, innovation and style. These qualities come to a head in September for the World of Wearable Arts show.

The capital suitably plays host to this extravaganza which will see talented individuals from all across the country showcase their latest creations. From the top names in the industry to emerging up-and-comers, the pieces on show will dazzle and amaze.

There’s a good number of shows across the end of September and into October to choose from and gives you a great excuse to get to Wellington as the city wholeheartedly embraces the event.

A great way to experience it is by going to one of our many excellent food festivals like the Port Chalmers Seafood Festival. Situated in the Otago region with all the charms and genuine hospitality of the people there, the festival is an absolute must for those that love fresh seafood done well.

On top of all the food stalls, cooking demonstrations and great local beverages, there’ll be a great lineup of live music to keep everyone entertained.
