November’s a great month for getting out and about in New Zealand. It’s the month where Spring fizzles away into Summer and the spirit of the people starts to get festive with Christmas just around the corner!

It’s also the last chance to dedicate some time to getting out and about before the mayhem of December and Christmas comes around. Event organisers know this which is why November is stacked with some great things to do.

We’ve whittled that list down to our favourite six events that are taking place in New Zealand in November which we’re sure you’ll love and enjoy!

1. LES MISéRABLES

After 20 long years, one of the most famous musicals the world has ever known finally returns to the stage in Auckland. We’re of course talking about Les Misérables, now seen by more than 130 million people worldwide and with more to be added this November in the City of Sails.

Les Misérables has won fans from all over the world as the musical that has it all. A great story, amazing staging, dazzling costumes and most importantly, toe-tapping hit songs. This includes the likes of ‘I Dreamed A Dream’, ‘On My Own’, ‘Master Of The House’ and ‘Do You Hear The People Sing’.

Hosted at the iconic and glorious Civic Theatre, you’ll be treated to a wondrous night of magical storytelling and performance but the run only lasts a month so get your tickets quick to avoid the disappointment of missing out!

2. DUNEDIN CRAFT BEER AND FOOD FESTIVAL

Kiwi’s love their craft beer and it’s not appreciated anywhere more than the Deep South which is it hosts the Dunedin Craft Beer and Food Festival.

The Dunedin Craft Beer and Food Festival delivers exactly what it says on the package. Excellent craft beer with fantastic food and a festive atmosphere.

Food and beverage vendors from all around the country participate in the event with last year having 60 beverage vendors alone! This year promises to be bigger and better than ever with the presence of established labels as well as a few newcomers keen to get their brews on the taste buds of the public.

In addition to this, there’ll be music and entertainment with The Phoenix Foundation, Hollie Smith and Mia Jay featuring as well as things like a homebrew competition and an area for the kids as well!

3. AIR NEW ZEALAND QUEENSTOWN INTERNATIONAL MARATHON

For all those endurance athletes out there, the Air New Zealand Queenstown International Marathon will have likely been in the calendar for months and so you’ll no doubt be happy it’s nearly here.

It’s hard to think of a more beautiful and picturesque place to host a marathon than Queenstown which is partly why it attracts so many competitors. With the Remarkables, Crown Mountain Ranges and Queenstown Lakes in your sights, you’ll find no shortage of inspiration to get you through the course.

That being said, you don’t have to be the ultimate runner to participate as there is also a half marathon option, a 10km run and a 2.2km kids race too. Whichever course you choose, it’s a wonderful event to register for in an extraordinary part of the country.

4. MONSTER ENERGY S-X OPEN

Fans of motorsport will be making their way to Auckland in November from all around the country to attend the Monster Energy S-X Open, a supercross spectacle that promises excitement and thrills!

Some of the world’s very best Supercross and Motocross riders will be in action competing against one another in high-speed races and other events like the FMX Best Trick Competition that’s seen past competitors perform double backflips, bike flips and front flips!

There’ll be entertainment, pyrotechnics, music and more in what is sure to be a high intensity action-packed and memorable night for all!

5. TOAST MARTINBOROUGH

One of the most popular and highly regarded food and wine festivals takes place in November in the beautiful town of Martinborough, just over an hour and a half’s drive from Wellington.

We’re of course talking about ‘Toast Martinborough’ which celebrates its 28th year as one of the premier events in New Zealand’s cuisine calendar.

Martinborough is known as one of the best wine regions in the country which is why it’s such a great spot to host the annual event. Each year the festival gets bigger and better with thousands of people flocking from far and wide to participate in the experience.

Attending Toast Martinborough means a day of tasting great food matched with exquisite wine from all around the region from the numerous wineries and local food vendors present. You’ll also enjoy a day of live music which makes for a great atmosphere too.

6. FESTIVAL X RISING

An exciting new music festival to reach our shores this November is Festival X Rising which features one of the biggest names in the business, Calvin Harris.

The Grammy Award-winning producer, DJ and songwriter, Calvin Harris, needs no introduction as one of the most successful artists of all time. He’s being joined by some great names like Anna Lunoe, Juice Wrld, Katayanagi Twins and Lil Pump representing a wide variety of genres.

Festival X Rising is being organised by the people responsible for some of the best musical events in Australasia. Hardware, Onelove and Live Nation were massive hit events and this one, hosted at Western Springs, is sure to be just as epic so don’t miss out!
