Taupo Summer Concert 2017

The Taupo SUmmer Concert will feature Icehouse, Alan Parsons Live Project and Bonnie Tyler

One of the biggest events on the Taupo calendar is the annual Summer Concert and this year promises to be bigger and better than ever (which is a pretty tough challenge following on from Huey Lewis and the News last year!). This year’s Taupo Summer Concert will be held on Saturday 28 January at Riverside Park and Unison Amphitheatre in the heart of Taupo and we can’t wait for a Taupo road trip – especially when you see the line-up they have got in store this year!

Who’s playing the Taupo Summer Concert 2017?

This year will be the sixth annual Taupo Summer Concert and previous years have attracted some big names to the town including Lynyrd Skynyrd, 10cc, The Doobie Brothers, Foreigner and Huey Lewis and the News. Last year’s line-up also included REO Speedwagon and Melissa Etheridge and attracted crowds of over 40,000 to see the three shows.

So, what have the Taupo Summer Concert organiser got up their sleeves for this year you ask? Well, drum roll please…they’ve only gone and got Bonnie Tyler, Alan Parsons Live Project and Icehouse! A pretty stellar line-up we’re sure you will agree.

The organisers are expecting crowds to swell again, with record numbers expected. The Riverside Park and Unison Amphitheatre provides the perfect venue for this three show concert with the spectacular Waikato River running alongside.

Ticket Prices

In more good news, organisers have once again held the ticket prices for 2017 meaning for just $99 you can come along and listen to some real legends of the rock and pop world. This will be the first time in 20 years that Australian rockers Icehouse have played in New Zealand and the Taupo Summer Concert is the second of three events in New Zealand where these three acts will be playing along with Queenstown and Whitianga.

Tickets are available through Ticketek and are selling fast so we recommend getting your trip booked as soon as possible. The concert falls on Auckland Anniversary Weekend so it is expected to be busy down in the Taupo region. Don’t forget to book your rental car from Auckland or Wellington if you are planning a bit of a road trip.
