What you need to know about Auckland Airport

Auckland Airport consists of an international and domestic terminal. The airport operates a free terminal transfer bus service every 15 minutes between the hours of 5am and 11pm daily. It takes approximately 10 minutes to travel between terminals.

Prefer to walk? There is also an inter-terminal walkway, indicated by a green line painted on the foot path. This walk also takes around 10 minutes to complete.

It wouldn't be an airport without a duty-free mall. Auckland Airport has a wide range of international brands for visitors to stock up on. You can even shop online and collect your goods before departure or arrival.

International visitors to New Zealand will need to fill out a Passenger Arrival Card. Items you will need to declare on your card include:

  • Cash totals of NZ$10,000 or more, or foreign equivalent
  • Tobacco, if you have more than 50 cigarettes or 50 grams
  • Medicine, if you have more than 3 months' supply or medicines not prescribed to you

In addition, New Zealand has strict biosecurity measures. Your Passenger Arrival Card contains a full list of restricted materials, which must be declared or disposed of in airport amnesty bins. Restricted materials include any fruit, vegetable, plant or animal products. Before departure, you should clean all sports equipment of any soil or grass, and your footwear if you have visited a farm overseas.
